How was the Non touch-No pain-No drain technique in Tummy Tuck born
Distant Past:

Cycladic art 2300-2700 BC. Make an incision, pull the skin, cut out as much as you can and close". It was obvious that this could not be considered a Tummy Tuck. |
Past:

While studying ancient Greek statues and many contemporary photographs of beautiful female and male bodies, I couldn’t help but notice that a flat abdomen was not enough.
If we wanted to excel in abdominoplasty and offer a surgical outcome that would resemble the skilful artistic touch of our ancestors, we ought to be able to deliver the same results as the ancient sculptors!

Past, Present and Future:

Features of a perfect tummy tuck:
- the abdomen is flat
- the middle line or linea alba is visible
- the line at the lateral abdominal walls is visible
- the waist is slim
- the navel has a normal shape and is appropriately located
- the incision is hidden by the underwear
- the skin is tight above and below the navel
Past: “You should know that tummy tuck hearts a lot, you will have tubes for several days and a transfusion may be necessary".
We couldn’t accept this either. Patient recovery is of outmost importance.
Present: we ought to find a technique that would cause no pain. This is how the
No touch-No pain-No drain technique was born.
No touch: because we do not touch. Everything is done with special tools with a special surgical technique.
No pain: because we do not cut any nerves!!
No drain: because we do not use drains!!
This is what we have been doing for the past few years and we are very happy to report that our patients are fully satisfied both with the outcome of their surgery and with their recovery process. They were truly transformed without feeling any pain at all!

The No pain-No drain Tummy Tuck
1. The contour of the abdomen
The aim of our technique is not just to give the patient a flat tummy, but to give the abdomen the anatomical features of a young person’s tummy such as a visible midline and the oblique line and curvature of the waist adding remarkable elegance to the silhouette.
2. Discreet placement of incisions
Incisions in tummy tuck must be placed very low in the pubic area, so that they can be easily hidden underneath the underwear or swimsuit no matter how small this garment may be.
3. Slim waist
A slim waist is one of the secrets of a good tummy tuck. This is achieved by combining 3 techniques.
- First, liposuction in the lumbar area (love handles) in almost all patients, and
- then relocation of the abdominal skin inwards and downwards.
- Inward stretching and suturing of the fascia of the external oblique muscle of the abdomen.
This way the waist becomes thinner, the torso appears more oblong, and all features add incredible grace to the female body. There are patients who have lost more than 25cm from their waist through this technique.
4. Correction of the pubic area
Great attention must be paid to the careful lifting of the pubic area, which, in many women is sagging and has lost its youthful look. Apart from lifting, this area may also need a careful liposculpture performed with a special technique.
5. Correction of loose skin above the navel
Great attention is needed for the correction of loose skin below and above the navel (if required). Moreover, a special preparation of flaps as well as liposuction at the rib area is necessary to allow the upper body skin to adjust smoothly around the waist.
6. Diastasis of the rectus abdominis muscles - muscle tightening
70% of women who undergo a tummy tuck also have flaccid abdominal muscles and abdominal separation.
This separation must be corrected. During pregnancy the womb presses against the abdominal muscles. This pair of vertical muscles is located at the centre of the abdomen.
Intense, outward pressure makes the abdominal muscles flaccid and moves them aside. As a result, after pregnancy, the content of the abdomen is protruding through this gap in the abdominal muscles. It should be noted that there is no form of workout to improve the situation! Therefore, diastasis recti must always be corrected with internal suturing during a tummy tuck. Mesh placement is very rare and is only used in cases were muscle separation exceeds 15cm.
7. Belly button surgery
The navel can change into various abnormal shapes. This situation requires correction with a careful belly button surgery or umbilicoplasty.
8. Avoid hygroma
In recent years we have stopped using drains. To limit the hygromas (fluid collection), which corresponds to 10% of complications, we apply two techniques. Firstly, we do not destroy the lymph vessels (small subcutaneous capillaries that facilitate drainage of liquids) and, secondly, we use special sutures that attach the tummy to the abdominal wall and drastically reduce the empty space where hygroma can develop.
9. Avoiding pain
We do not cut or cause any trauma on the nerves that are involved in the innervation of the abdomen.
