Teoxane Expert Day, Hilton Athens

Mr. Keramidas spoke on the safety of fillers used around the mouth.

When injected appropriately in the lips, hyaluronic acid can improve facial features offering  beautiful results. Correct and safe use is mandatory. To achieve this, a plastic surgeon must have deep knowledge of:

  1. Local anatomy
  2. Lip aesthetics
  3. Lip ageing process

More specifically, the plastic surgeon must know the labial arteries pattern so that he can always avoid them when injecting hyaluronic acid. Punctures or embolism of those arteries can cause extended damage to the lips.

The plastic surgeon must also have deep knowledge of lip aesthetics so that he may deliver a beautiful and alluring result instead of overtreated plumped-up lips that look unnatural.

Last but not least, younger patients must be treated differently compared to older patients when it comes to lip procedures.

Mr. Keramidas spoke on all the above at the Hilton meeting, giving particular emphasis to the safety of use of hyaluronic acid in lips aesthetics.

This was also the first time that Mr. Keramidas and Mrs Rodopoulou presented their Golden lips the step by step Φ technique.

This technique honours two basic rules:

  1. Safety of hyaluronic acid injection when avoiding risky areas
  2. Aesthetics

Let’s take a deeper look into the “Step by step Φ technique” for Golden lips

Analysis:

A step-by-step technique: lip safety and aesthetics require the infusion of only a small amount of hyaluronic acid into the lips. Moreover, this must be done gradually.

Therefore, a surgeon must never inject more than 1-1.5cc of hyaluronic acid per session.

The second injection of hyaluronic acid can be made 15 days after the first one. Same applies for the third injection: if required, this should be done 15 days to 2 months after the second injection.

What can we achieve with this technique?

  1. Safe infusion in the lips and no complications
  2. Lip volume increases gradually and discretely
  3. Step-by-step and slow infusion allows the lips to increase in size; Thus, any new amount of hyaluronic acid will smoothly fit inside the lips and so the end result will look natural.

Safe – Discrete – Natural result

The Φ (f) technique? What does the “f” stand for?

The Greek letter phi (Φ) symbolizes the golden ratio, i.e. number  1,618……

Ancient Greeks were familiar with this number and Greek mathematician Euclid was the first to describe it.

The Golden ratio or Phidias’ number, hence the letter Phi (Φ), is everywhere. Anything pleasant to look at or symmetrical is based on the letter Φ.

The Parthenon, the Pyramids, the spiral are all based on letter Φ. And, like many artists and painters, we plastic surgeons use the letter Φ to achieve the Golden Lips which are based on the ideal ratio of the golden number of perfection, the number behind the letter Φ.

  • The Golden Lips
  • The Step by Step Φ technique
  • The Golden Lips

To achieve this, we use a special tool that measures the number Φ.

We place this tool on the lips to locate the perfect site for the hyaluronic acid injection. Thus, we can achieve symmetry during the hyaluronic acid injection and give the lips the desired volume based on the number Φ, i.e. the Golden rule for a harmonious and attractive result.

Infusion safety is ensured through:

  1. Perfect anatomy skills
  2. Gradual infusion of hyaluronic acid

To this day, we have used this technique in more than 1000 patients without any problems or complications (bruises and oedema may be expected)

This new technique was first presented in Bangkok in July 2018 during the IMCAS ASIA 2018 world meeting where it was widely welcomed.
